After dinner it became routine that I read a piece of my poetry to my fellow diners. One night after I had finished reading my "Nine Eleven" poem a rather pompous man challenged me to write something from the Terrorist's point of view if I could.
The next evening I read this piece to my fellow diners. He did not challenge me again.

MARTYRS OR TERRORISTS

We have been selected to be
of the chosen few
Who will make a mark in history
for us an honour too

We've looked deep into our souls
and the corners of our minds
Plumbed to our depths and prayed
that when called we'd find

The courage that will be needed
to perform this great task
And if we have and when it's done
there's something that we ask

Don't think just of the horror
that we have brought to you
But think about the reasons
that have made this happen too

For we follow our beliefs
etched deep upon our hearts
And thus with pride and head
held high this worldly life depart.
