The high winds meant we had to spend an extra night in Cape Town. We decided to go ashore with some of the crew who said there was a good shopping centre close to the harbour. They were right, as the wind was really strong and we were passing the rear entrance I said why don't we go in this way.
Not my wisest suggestion as it turned out.

BLACK-EYED AFRICA

My first visit to Africa
was on my itinerary
A chance to see the big five
was a possibility
To take away a picture
of nature wild and free
So that later I could write about
all the things I'd see
I dreamt of Table Mountain
and the inspiration I'd find there
With views of Capetown laid at my feet,
what else would compare
But things did not quite work
out the way I wanted them to
Because when I sailed away from Africa
it was with eyes that were black and blue
So my advice to all you people
and I can tell you this for sure
If you want to win the fight
don't let your opponent be a glass revolving door
