Returning to the ship after visiting tourist locations in San Francisco people were talking about the demonstrations against America's involvement in the second Gulf War in March 2003.
I over heard this remark as I walked up the gangplank "... we suspended reality when we boarded this ship." Hence another poem came into being.

CRUISER'S WAR
War began, but things just carried on
in this world upon the sea,
As if nothing on earth could threaten
the lives of you and me,

We played shuffleboard threw deck quoits
and line danced the morning away,
With nobody stopping to think
we just continued to play,
We'd suspended reality
when we boarded our ship of fun,
And nobody thought seriously
about what could happen or might come,

One all powerful Nation
thinking it had right upon it's side,
Persuaded others more vulnerable
to join up for the ride

Right or wrong the price will be high
and who who'll be left to pay the bill
Families of the young men
buried in far off sand hills.
