I wrote this for a really lovely Austalian family who welcomed me into their home. By doing so they showed me what being a part of a loving family was like.
With their encouragement I decided to collate some of my poems and my first booklet was published. The words of Pahnia their oldest daughter stays with me to this day. "My children and my grandchildren will know you through your words Beverley".

FAMILY LOVE

I heard there's a thing called family love
A wondrous gift from heaven above
​
But not every one has known this joy
When distrust and bitterness destroys
​
And spoils the innocence of untouched youth
With fear hate and lies that distort the truth
So it's with great pleasure I see you there
United and strong through the love you share
I've watched you and now it is clear to me
Love can be found within a family.
AGEISM TODAY
Move over all of you older folk
I'm afraid you have had your day
Now's the time to clear the decks and
allow the younger fitter folk to play
Yes you may well have kept hotels and bars
solvent throughout your younger years
However those days are over for you
now that's a fact of life I fear
Although it may be hard to face the
truth but it must be said
No hotel or entertainment venue
wants guests who go early to bed
All in all it really would be best these
days for you to holiday at home
Even if that does mean that you might
have to spend them on your own.

A LESSON FROM GRANDPA
I know you think that I can't
do the things you do
But you did not know me when
I was young like you
I have to admit that I am much
slower than you may be
In keeping up with all this
modern technology
But I fought in two great wars
to make a safer world for you
So remember this my child there
will come a day when you too
Will have Grandchildren who will
just think of you as being old
And maybe then you will recall
these words and being told
I maybe old but please look past
my dry and wrinkled skin
For one day it will be just like
the one you are living in
Although I love you dearly but
this fact you will have to learn
We all grow older and someday
too it will be your turn.
