AFTERMATH OF WAR
What happens after a war's been won
Looting and violence follows on
Whilst the helpless orphans roam around
Seeking families who can't be found

Frantic women in ruined buildings
Sift through the rubble for treasured things
Children looking like dust covered waifs
Stare up at walls that are bullet strafed

Dreadful things may happen far away
You see them in pictures day by day
Fear and suffering are plain to see
When ever you turn on your TV

So why rush into war without thought
Of what it will cost or that we ought
To spend some time planning to ensure
Peace and order follow on from war

It's not all over when a war's been won
Was it worth it when all's said and done
Can victory be worth any price
When the cost's so great to human life

Inevitable some would say gravely
Although the end effect might possibly
Be less dreadful when aftermath plans
Are made for both people and the land
