THE MERMAID'S TAIL

If I was a mermaid with a silvery tail

Could I swim with the fishes or marry a whale

 

What would it be like in those waters so deep

Would I hold my breath in order to keep

 

Swimming around at the bottom of the sea

Or would I be able to breathe naturally

 

Could I talk in the language of fish

It's one of those things that I dream of and wish

 

Late at night when my legs are aching in bed

How I long for a mermaid's tail instead
