SOUTH GEORGIA

The Argies landed on South
Georgia in April '82

When I read about it I never
thought one day I would too

Land on that distant island
where the Falklands war began

When the chance arose naturally
I grabbed it with both hands

500 miles we sailed from
Stanley on the Sir Lancelot

With only two female officers
the cabin that we got

Was the Sick Bay, what luxury
a toilet plus a shower

Bliss from months of ablution
blocks with low water power

Helicopter flights and a picnic
basket filled to the brim

Were added to my memories
that time and years never dims.
